According to a publication in the popular UK magazine Amateur Photographer, Pentax will appear at the next show in Japan with its digital medium format camera. A few years ago, Pentax announced the development of a digital medium format camera, and the model even received a name: Pentax 645 Digital. After that, however, the plan was stored on a shelf and seemed doomed to stay there. In an interview with John Carlson, product marketing and support manager of Pentax USA, Amateur Photographer was told that Pentax foresees possibilities on the Japanese market for this product. The upcoming Photo Imaging Expo, starting at the end of March in Tokyo, will be used to present the Pentax 645 Digital again.

Simple operation is the core of the Optio E50. With its compact dimensions and ergonomically formed body design it is the ideal “go anywhere” camera. The technical characteristics are ideal for snapshots. For “people shots” the camera automatically selects the best exposure settings and focusing and corrects for backlighting as soon as the subject is targeted with the help of the autofocus frame. In order to minimize blurring caused by camera shake the Pentax Optio E50 incorporates a digital "Shake Reduction" system that automatically increases sensitivity up to ISO 1600 so that faster shutter speeds can be used. With a resolution of 8.1 megapixels and a large 6 cm (2.4'') monitor the Pentax Optio E50 is thoroughly up-to-date.

Slim and easy all-round camera with extended zoom range. Despite its 5x zoom range, the diminutive dimensions and scant weight of the Pentax Optio M50 is due to a flat Lithium-Ion battery and further miniaturisation of the circuit board. The result is an eye-catching 23.5mm deep aluminium body that will be available in classic silver or a selection of other attractive colours. Technically the Pentax Optio M50 also has much to offer and will spoil the photographer with its numerous functions, not least of which is the extended - now five times - zoom range that assures successful telephoto shots. The digital "Shake Reduction" automatically increases the sensitivity to ISO 6400.

The PMA represents 20,000 members from over 100 countries, who are all active within the imaging industry. As a reflection of the changes in the market, the PMA organization has also changed and has become more diverse. Nowadays, the member group consists of representatives coming from photo retail, manufacturers, commercial photo labs, professional sports and news photography, in addition to small album print suppliers and photo processing centers. The PMA 2010 focuses on an industry which is heavily affected by the unstable situation of the global financial economy. However, whether the latter will also stand in the way of the innovation and product introductions, remains to be revealed by the PMA International Convention and Trade Show in the Anaheim Convention Center in Southern California, USA.
