PMA 2008 Report
This Sigma lens is the world’s first ultra telephoto zoom lens that offers a fast aperture of F2.8 at the 500mm focal length and F5.6 at the 1000mm. It covers widely used focal lengths from 200mm to 500mm and has a large aperture of F2.8 throughout the entire zoom range. The Sigma APO 200-500mm F2.8/400-1000mm EX DG lens can be used to create amazing image expression with various types of photography such as astrophotography, portraits, wildlife, sports. SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass and three ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion) glass elements provide excellent correction for all type of aberrations. The super multi layer lens coating reduces flare and ghosting.
Sigma at PMA 2007
For Sigma, the latest Photokina has been an important event. Not only for them being a lens manufacturer but also a camera manufacturer. At that time Sigma introduced the Sigma SD14, a digital SLR camera based on the deviated Foveon X3 image sensor. Besides that Sigma introduced the DP1 digital compact camera that has been equipped with the Foveon image sensor. Not one of these cameras had reached the final stage then and the availability of the Sigma SD14 was even postponed. But at the PMA 2007 Sigma announced the availability of the Sigma SD14 digital SLR and the first results are starting to appear here and there on a users forum and on different web sites of the true Sigma lovers.
Sigma SD14 SLR camera

- Category: Digital Cameras
The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the launch of the new Sigma SD14 Digital SLR camera. The new Sigma SD14, powered by the 14 megapixels Foveon X3 direct image-sensor, can reproduce high definition images. The Sigma SD14 Digital SLR camera features four JPEG recording modes, large and bright pentaprism viewfinder with 98% coverage, a built-in flash with a Guide Number of 11, 5 point AF system, a large 2.5” 150,000 pixel resolution LCD monitor as well as high resolution and user friendly design. The durable shutter mechanism has a over 100,000 cycle life and is ideal for the demands of digital photography. Sigma introduced its first digital SLR camera, the Sigma SD9, to the market in October 2002.
Sigma DP1
- Brand: Sigma
- Subject: Digital Cameras
- Category: Digital Cameras
Sigma announces the launch of the Sigma DP1 using three silicon embedded layers of photo sensors stacked to take advantage of silicon’s ability to absorb red, green and blue light at different respective depths. The size of image sensor used in DP1 camera is approximately 10 times larger than those used in an ordinary point and shoot camera. Large size image sensor takes advantage of larger pixels. So far point and shoot digital cameras incorporated small size image sensors, and researches for increasing the number of pixels by keeping the image sensor small is still continuing. However, there are limitations in these researches, because keeping image sensor size small will result poor capture of the light poorly.
Sigma 18-200mm lens
- Brand: Sigma
- Subject: SLR Lenses
- Category: Zoom Lenses
The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the launch of the new Sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS lens. This 11.1 times high magnification zoom ratio lens is exclusively designed for digital SLR cameras and is capable of covering a wide range of focal lengths from wide angle to telephoto. It is equipped with Sigma’s own unique OS (Optical Stabilizer) technology. This technology uses two sensors inside the lens to detect vertical and horizontal movement of the camera and works by moving an optical image stabilizing lens group, to effectively compensate camera shake. It also automatically detects movement of the camera and compensates camera shake when shooting moving subjects such as motor sports.
Sigma APO 200-500mm lens
- Brand: Sigma
- Subject: SLR Lenses
- Category: Zoom Lenses
The Sigma APO 200-500mm F2.8 EX DG is the world’s first Ultra-Telephoto Zoom Lens that offers a fast aperture of F2.8 at 500mm focal length. It covers the widely used 200 to 500mm focal length range, and maintains its fast F2.8 aperture over the entire zoom range. Four SLD glass elements provide excellent correction for all types of aberrations and produce a high level of optical performance throughout the entire zoom range. Shooting distance and focal length can be viewed on the lens’ LCD panel, which is an additional convenience for the photographer. A filter can be inserted towards the rear of the lens, and a circular polarizing filter can be used with its ingenious rotation mechanism.
